We decided to write an article covering the all natural hair dye options due to a large number of people refusing to use chemical based dyes. I have nothing against using an all natural hair dye - in fact I applaud it! It's just that a lot of these natural options are no where near as effective or long lasting as the commercial products.
All Natural Hair Dye For The Darker Shades
This is for all you brunettes or black haired ladies out there! It's a simple and cheap method to create an . all natural hair dye
This method requires a mix of black tea or coffee and is quite popular due to it's simplicity. Brew up about a pint of either and leave to cool down a bit ( luke warm will suffice ). Apply to clean and dry hair then place a shower cap over the head. Leave the cap on for approximately half an hour then remove. If the shade is not dark enough go through the process again until the desired effect is achieved.
Back to Our Teenage Hippy Years - The Henna Brigade!!
I used this stuff so often when I was a college student it's almost laughable now! But Henna is actually an excellent choice of all natural hair dye. It's still a very popular product and is used by millions.
I especially like the soft finish and feel of the hair after the dying process is complete - very natural and reassuring! I have used both the black and the brown-reddish one and the results were absolutely amazing.
It still has to be mixed into that messy mud substance and applied to your hair but that should not bother you - it's very natural. It's so natural it's actually recommended to be left in your hair for as long as possible for best results!
Red Head! Red Head!
This color seems to be very popular and fashionable at the moment. Hibiscus or Rosehips are boiled down into two teacups of water and then left to cool right down. When sufficiently cooled the two cup-fulls are strained and then massaged into the scalp.
Again, with this type of all natural you are recommended to leave it in the hair for as long as possible before rinsing out. It doesn't really last that long either so repeat the process a couple of times a week for maximum effect! hair dye
Rhubarb Rocks!
That's right you read the sub heading correct - rhubarb rocks when it comes to all natural hair dye. The rhubarb root is a very strong dye when it is boiled down with two cups of water.
This mixture must be left overnight to ferment properly then applied the next morning ( strain the mixture before applying to the hair! ).
