The Paddle Hair Brush
A paddle brush is very effective when you need to get your cuticles to lie flat. This is important if your hair gets frequently tangled up. It's also very effective in smoothing out your hair which in turn gives it a lovely sleek look.
There are many different hair brushes and their uses but the paddle brush seems to be the most user-friendly. I say this as it is suitable for just about every type of hair texture and style.
They are not the most delicate looking of brushes but they are built to serve a purpose. They come in many different materials but I always favor the timber finish - it looks more traditional and rugged ( like it's going to last you years! ).
There are two main head shapes to a paddle brush - circular and rectangular. I tend to favor the rectangular ones as they seem to be more durable when it comes to the brushing. The bristles of the brush are always fitted to a sort of air cushion that is fitted to the head of the brush. This air cushion is a pretty cool design as it allows the brush to run over the contours of your head without pulling the hair. It also provides a scalp massage motion which gets the oils in roots of your hair moving.
Out of all the different hair brushes and their uses I favor the paddle brush due to it's simplicity and the fact it works on just about any hair type - great value for little money!

The Military Hair Brush
Most of the different hair brushes and their uses covered here today are more popular with the ladies but the military brush is a little different. This brush has no handle and seems to fit in with men easier than it does with women.
If you think back to the Humphrey Bogart era with the guy standing about in an overcoat with cigarette in the corner of his mouth you sort of get the picture. That slicked back hairstyle that the men used to sport in those days is down to the military styled brush.
Out of all the different hair brushes and their uses I find the military brush very 'old school' in design and technique. They are again based on an air cushioned head where the bristles sit and they are very durable.

The Radial Hair Brush
This particular brush gives the impression it is some sort of roller device - the bristles stretch around the whole of the cylindrical head of the brush. The brush is designed to give you that 'big curl' sort of look and can be very effective when used with a hair dryer.
They are quite an impressive and simple idea really - the larger the brush the bigger the curls you can achieve. There are many different hair brushes and their uses but this one stands out as the most unique in my book due to the use of vent holes. These vent holes are placed around the head of the brush and have a very important function. As you blow dry the hair into curls the vent holes allow the heat from the dryer to circulate giving the hair more volume.

The Half Radial Hair Brush
This brush is designed for flicking your hair up or down. I know that sounds a little strange so I'll try and explain it simply - if you have a bobbed hair cut a lot of the time you will be aiming at getting the hair ends to point inwards ( towards your cheekbones ).
This hair brush looks like a full radial brush that has basically been cut down the middle. It is a good choice of brush for people with long hair that do not want to much volume after washing their hair.
Let's Brush!!!
The different hair brushes and their uses listed above are the more common designs on the market. You will always find more specialized and unique models/designs ( for a pretty price more! ) but they are all based on the styles listed above.
